Hundreds of girls aged 14 or under are having 'designer vagina' surgery on the NHS

100s of youthful women are getting ‘designer vagina’ surgery around the NHS, say scientists.

Figures show 343 procedures were carried out on women aged 14 or under within the last six years, possibly for cosmetic reasons.

The methods involve re-shaping female genitalia and demands might be granted for the reason that the issue is psychologically harmful.

Scientists from College College Hospital, London, brought by Dr Sarah Creighton, claim it's ‘disturbing’ that there's no minimum age limit for that surgery.

They are saying demand might be growing for such methods due to poor and any mistakes available online, usually from private treatment centers.

Websites of firms that provide female genital plastic surgery (FGCS) make ‘unsubstantiated claims’ about the advantages of the methods.

'The lack of a lesser age limit for the FGCS methods is most annoying of all’ she stated.

She stated ‘In yesteryear six years, 343 labiaplasties were carried out within the United kingdom NHS on women aged 14 or under.

'The signs for surgery within this number of youngsters are unknown, but labial anomalies needing surgical interventions are very rare.

‘In a current observational study of referral designs, women as youthful as nine years with normal labia had presented for labiaplasty.

‘The labia minora change included in normal pubertal growth, with development completed because the individual approaches their adult years.

‘Given the truth that anatomy is constantly on the change through the lifespan, the more youthful a woman starts her FGCS journey the greater the amount of lifetime procedures and also the greater and much more multiple the risks’ she stated.

Dr Creighton added ‘The NHS collects details about the amount of these methods and also the age groups but there's no reason to record the reason why on their behalf.

‘We don't know what they've been accomplished for, we are able to only speculate and much more details are needed.’

Dr Creighton stated it might be impossible to prohibit such procedures on women under 14 around the NHS due to the chance that these were medically necessary.

Dr Creighton states it is not easy for doctors to won't operate when the patient argues they see the issue to be psychologically harmful although her clinic rejects such cases and works simply to correct medical or hereditary irregularities.
